STOCKTON – San Joaquin Delta College and Delta Blood Bank will host a blood drive and college club, Dance for Donors, will be advising students to register as organ donors.

The blood bank is offering a $300 scholarship to the college club with the most participants. There must be a minimum of 20 donors per club to be eligible for the award. Each donor will receive a free T-shirt courtesy of Delta Blood Bank.

From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Dance for Donors will be advising students on registering with the California Department of Motor Vehicles to become organ donors (organ donor sign ups). The campus club is No. 1 among Northern California colleges in the 2009 National Donation Campus Challenge.

Blood donors should be in good general health, at least 17 years old – or 16 with parental consent – and at least 110 pounds. All donors must present valid photo ID at the time of donation.

Donations will be accepted as replacements for blood used by a friend or relative, for one of Delta Blood Bank’s Blood Plan programs or for general community use.
